A strand of 6 hand painted Recycled Glass Beads. These beads are sometimes called bottle glass beads and once made are painted by hand. The design on some these beads resemble eyes and eye beads were used to ward off evil spirits and when worn would protect the wearer from harm. The bead is a bottle glass. These beads are handmade so will vary in size and colour. Each bead is about 12x14mm. You will receive a strand similar to one of the strands in the photo. This is a way for you to get a variety for your beading. If you would like a strand all the same colour please do not hesitate to contact us. And also remember for most of the strands we will be happy to break them up if you would like to have only a few. These recycled glass beads were purchased straight from the small factory which hand crafts them using the methods of their ancestors, from crushing recycled bottles all the way to firing them in a wood burning oven. In the Workshop there are shelves of single beads in jars - looks like a Candy Shop! These Bodoms are about the sixe of a marble 18mm. They are a beautiful brick reddish brown with flecks throughout. All of these Bodoms are beautiful and were found in Ghana's Beads Markets. This is the advantage of going and searching for beads in person as special treasures can be found. $8/5 beads
