    A strand of  Turquoise disk beads traded in Ghana, W. Africa. Found for Funky Frog by Hidir, a favourite Trader. Each strand is about 32" and the beads are about 1x6 mm strung on string. The beads are handmade so will vary in size, shape and colour. After some research it seems these beads are probably Howlite a stone or gem in and of itself but also well known for its ability to be dyed and look like other stones/gems. Howlite is a stone of patience and perspective, for those who feel they need to slow it down, absorb, and clear the constant stream of chatter from the mind, it's a crystal that marries you to a more mindful way of life.  So not 'real' turquoise' but still a treasure!

They range from 15 to 28 mm. You will receive a grouping of 11 beads similar to the groupings the second image. These beads are a soft Cement Grey with a rough earthy feel and look.

The beads are strung on plastic string 42" long. The colour varies from a dark burnt orange to a light orange ... very Autumn. You will receive a strand similar to the photo.   • Venetian Trade Beads from Venice have always been coveted , both in West Africa, where they were shipped to starting as early as the late 19th century, and in Europe and North America. India has been making beads for centuries and started making beads that look like the Venetian Trade Beads from about 1980. The Indian beads are generally larger than the original Venetian beads with larger holes . These Indian Venetian Beads found their way to Ghana’s Bead Markets where Funky Frog found them and was captivated by their colourful and varied shapes. This strand of 20 jaunty yellow and black stripes beads are about 9x19mm. They are handmade so will vary in size , shape and colour.
  • Colourful strand of large 25 fancy Indian Glass Beads that apparently traveled all the way from India to West African Bead Market.. then brought to Canada by Funky Frog – jet set beads!  However the Beads Trader told me they were from Nigeria. While research this bead i could not find any related beads except the glass beads coming from India ... if anyone know these beads please contact us! The beads are about 13x29 mm. There is a smaller version of these beads which you can check out by clicking here. They are pictured together in the last photo.
  • 3 Saphire Blue Indian Glass Beads with gold specks and light blue glass embedded in the beads. The beads are about 27 mm and are a triangular shape. These beads would make a great focal bead for any project!
  • Millefiori Trade Beads from Venice have always been coveted , both in West Africa, where they were shipped to starting as early as the late 19th century, and in Europe and North America. Many of you will know these beads as ‘love beads’ from the 60’s! Millefiori or ‘thousand flowers’ Beads are made by places slices of cane bead on a core of molten glass. Over the years these beads’ value have soared so it is no wonder other places started to make copies of these beads. India has been making beads for centuries and started making beads that look like the Venetian Trade Beads from about 1980. These beads are generally larger than the original Venetian beads with larger holes . These Indian Venetian Beads found their way to Ghana’s Bead Markets where Funky Frog found them and was captivated by their colourful and varied shapes. This strand of 19 translucent blue with colourful specks beads are about 15x20 mm. One strand has two beads with yellow and red patterned inlays, the other strand has one with a red patterned inlay. You will receive one of these strands – for now if you want to specify email us please. They are handmade so will vary in size , shape and colour.
  • Colourful strand of 29 fancy Indian Glass Beads that traveled all the way from India to West African Bead Market and then brought to Canada by Funky Frog – jet set beads! The beads are about 10x24 mm.
