Back by popular demand .... Earth Butter Beads are hand rolled by women from a disadvantaged rural community near Cape Town, South Africa. Desiree designs, glazes and fires the beads in her pottery studio. These colourful beads captured my heart and are amongst the few beads i don't actually go and buy (though it is definitely on my bucket list!) Funky Frog has over the years gathered quite a collection. With Desiree's blessing Funky Frog is offering some of these beads. This way i can destash a bit so i can buy more!!! Always more!! A strand of Copper Heishi Metal Spacer Beads found by Funky Frog's Trader in Ghana and probably made in Kenya. These heishi beads are 3 mm strung on raffia 26" long. These beads are great for any project as an added touch. -
Twisted Design Rustic Copper Ring found in the Tamale Market in Ghana. The ring is about 19mm on the inside. The ring itself is quite fine about 2mm in diameter. The rings are handmade so there is a variation in shape and size between them. Please contact us if you would like a specific ring or we will send you one like in the photo. -
Heavy Rustic Copper Ring found in the Tamale Market in Ghana. The ring varies in size from about 20mm to 23 mm in diameter on the inside. The ring itself if very thick about 6mm in diameter. This Geometric Hexagon Pendant was designed and made for Funky Frog. The Hexagon is about 55 mm (including loop) The artisans use whatever scrap metal they can get their hands on form old taps to pipes to .. but they call it 'brass'. Did you know the hexagon is the most efficient, least wasteful shape found in nature. ... The compressive characteristics of the shape allow it to be one of the strongest structures in the world.The cells of a beehive honeycomb are hexagonal. Cool. $5/hexagon pendant -
During a Bead Hunt the Kokofrom Cooperative outside Kumasi designed and made these adorable key charms especially for Funky Frog . The process these metal smiths are using is the same as their ancestors... back then it was gold now it is any metal they can get their hands on!! During a Bead Hunt the Kokofrom Cooperative outside Kumasi made more leaves!! These beautiful leaf charms were designed and made especially for Funky Frog . The process these metal smiths are using is the same as their ancestors... back then it was gold now it is any metal they can get their hands on!!
