  • A strand  of 41 black Recycled Glass beads strung on string 22". The beads have a soft smooth texture and are a 10 x 15 mm football shape. These beads are an unusual shape and designed by an innovative designer (seen adding up my beads in photo!) who has a cottage industry making beads by hand just outside Accra. It is always  a pleasure to go and check out what he has made. Check out the blog about our visit here ...
  • A strand of small Mixed Colours  Goombah Glass Beads strung on string  about 42" long bought by Funky Frog directly from the bead market in Ghana, W. Africa. 'Goombah?' you ask .... This is what the trader called them and since it was such a nice word i took note but forgot to ask him why ... next time!
  • A strand of small Black and Green Chevron Glass Beads strung on string  about 42" long bought by Funky Frog directly from the bead market in Ghana, W. Africa. I really debated whether this was a green or yellow with the black ... the debate is still out but for the site i opted for green!
  • A strand of small Black and Yellow Chevron Glass Beads strung on string  about 42" long bought by Funky Frog directly from the bead market in Ghana, W. Africa.
  • A strand of small Black and Reddish Brown Chevron Glass Beads strung on string  about 42" long bought by Funky Frog directly from the bead market in Ghana, W. Africa.
  • A strand of tiny Black and Yellow Chevron Glass Beads strung on string  about 42" long bought by Funky Frog directly from the bead market in Ghana, W. Africa. This is a tiny chevron bead about half the size of the others.
  • A strand of 72  (8 mm) Bodom Recycled Glass Beads on string 23" long. This strand is a charcoal that has an earthy organic feel. The beads are not shiny as the photo depicts (should redo note to self) and charcoal is a good description - smokey and dark.  Ghana is famous for these recycled beads made from recycled glass bottles. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens. The Bead Designer of these beads creates beautiful, very contemporary recycled glass beads.
