    Vintage Tomato Beads Vintage Tomato Beads
    A strand of 31 old bohemian oval red Tomato glass beads strung on string about 22" long. The beads are handcrafted so vary in size, colour and shape. The average size is about 10 x 12 mm.

  • A strand of about 66 round opaque Cherry Red Recycled Glass Beads which are strung on string 22" long. The beads are about 8 mm . The beads are all handcrafted so will vary in colour, size and shape. The strand you will received will be similar to the photo but may have variations. These beads are not completely transparent as they have a denseness that still let the light shine through. They remind me of ripe watermelon! There is a larger version of this bead here. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven.
