These beads were found for Funky Frog by Hidir, a favourite Trader in Koforidua, Ghana. These Mali Coin beads especially the brass beads are getting harder to find...   • A strand of approx. 70 gorgeous silver coin metal Mali squashed bicone beads strung on string which measures approximately 24". The small beads are approximately 6 mm by 9 mm. Please note that these beads are made by hand out of recycled metal and will vary in shape and size within the strand. The beads are in very good condition. The bead you will receive will be similar to the one in the photo.  These beads were found in Koforidua Market in Ghana. The Mali Coin Beads are said to be made of recycled old coins in Mali. Hence the name.  These beads have the solidity and heft of old coins. There is delicate engraving on each bead. These beads are getting harder to find especially ones of this quality. The Traders blame this on Mali's difficulties.

    11 round disk shaped old Soft Granite Stone Beads from Mali handcrafted in the ancient methods. These unusual beads were bought in the Koforidua Beads Market in Ghana, W. Africa. They range from 15 to 28 mm. You will receive a grouping of 11 beads similar to the groupings the second image. These beads are a soft Cement Grey with a rough earthy feel and look.
  • A strand of 100 hard wood Mali Prayer Beads with a copper band inset strung on string  24" long. Each bead is about 9 mm wide x 4 mm top to bottom and the hole is about 2mm ... these are handmade so will vary slightly in size and shape. 'The English word bead derives from the Old English noun bede which means a prayer.     A gorgeous barrel shaped bead 21 x 28 mm with a carved design that is brushed with a brick colour...  Would make a beautiful pendant!  Please note that these beads were handmade so each bead varies. You will receive one that is similar to the ones in the photo. If you get six beads the sixth one is free ! (so in actual fact only order five and i will put in the free one :) My affection for these beads grew when I heard that these 'Spindles' actually evolved into the beads they are today because of our avid collectioner's heart (all Beaders have one of those!) Originally these Spindles were actually made to spin cotton but then people started collecting them because they were so beautiful. They became rare .. so some enterprising people started making new ones but more as the beads they are today... They are so beautiful and evoke the country, Africa just by handling them and by the fact they are made of Africa's earth.

    Two strands of tiny delicate clay beads from Mali strung on rafia about 34" long. The beads are a uniform terracotta colour. These were bought directly from a Bead Trader in Ghana, W. Africa. There are two slight variations in the strands: 2nd image is Mini-1 and 3rd image is Mini-2. You will receive one of those pairs. If you have a preference please contact us.
