There is a small village, Kokofrom just outside Kumasi, Ghana where there are artisans who make lost wax brass beads in the same way as their ancestors. These brass disk were made for Funky Frog. The brass disks are great spacers and give the project something a bit different. These disks are about 1x11mm. They are handmade so will vary in size, shape and colour. The artisans use whatever scrap metal they can get their hands on from old taps to pipes to .. but they call it 'brass'. 15 disks / $5 -

Beautiful large Brass Sun and Moon Bead. Approximately 2.5" x 1.5" in size. You will receive a bead similar to those in the image. These beads are handmade so will vary in colour, size and shape. These beads are made using the labour intensive Lost Wax method where a mould is made of beeswax. This is packed in a muddy mixture with a hole at the top. This whole crucible is heated so the beeswax mould melts and metal that has been melted on another fire is poured in replacing the beeswax! And remember this is done under a scorching sun!! Amazing to see. $6 each -

Rustic Brass Ring with a engraved line design found in the Tamale Market in Ghana. The rings vary from about 19-23mm on the inside. The ring itself is flat about 4x1mm in diameter. The rings are handmade so there is a variation in shape and size between them. Please contact us if you would like a specific ring size or we will send you one like in the photo. -

Large Brass Globe Beads handmade in Nigeria and traded in Ghana, W.Africa. These beads have a special rough hewn look and are about 24 mm in diameter with a large 4mm hole. Please note the beads are handmade and the imperfections are part of the character of the bead. The 29 beads are strung on raffia about 28" long. There is only one strand which can be broken up. A strand of about 100 brass coin metal Mali squashed bicone beads strung on string which measures approximately 36". The beads are an antique brass approx. 10 mm by 15 mm. Please note that these beads are made by hand out of recycled metal and will vary in shape and size within the strand. You will receive a strand of beads similar to the ones in the photo but there might be variations. These beads were found in Koforidua Market in Ghana. -

Well worn and patinated coins dating from the 30's and up. Used as currency in the colonial period. Left with the old patina.
