These were found in the Agboblushi Market in Accra ... the trader said they were from Abijhan, Cote d'Ivoire ... they remind me of fimo beads with a soft smooth feel .. the bead is round about 20x23 mm with a large almost 3mm hole .. the beads are handcrafted so will vary quite a bit in shape, size and pattern. Very large translucent yellow Vintage Glass Balls. Would make an amazing focal point of a very dramatic necklace! The beads are a whopping 30 mm in diameter with a very large opening which is about 5 mm. They are beautiful and sparkling in the sunlight. A very soft yellow. -

These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. These tiny beads are the most labour intensive. The beads are fired in a woodburning earthen oven. Ghana is famous for this type of bead. -

These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. The beads are then hand painted and then refired.
